Cap-TelCap-TelThe Captioned Telephone works like any other telephone with one important addition: It displays every word the caller says throughout the conversation. CapTel users can listen to the caller, and can also read the written captions in the CapTel's bright display window. While the call is in progress, the call is fed to an operator at Cap-Tel, and transcribes the conversation, which provides the hearing impaired party with a real time transcript of the conversation.

Registry of Interpreters for the DeafRegistry of Interpreters for the DeafRID is a national membership organization representing the professionals who make communication possible between people who are deaf or hard of hearing and people who can hear. Interpreters serve as professional communicators in a vast array of settings such as: churches, schools, courtrooms, hospitals and theaters, as well as on political grandstands and television. RID’s function is to support our membership by providing the foundation needed to launch and sustain careers while ensuring quality service to the Deaf community.
